I completed a set of 6x1 minute and 4x30sec intervals this morning down on the waterfront at Farm Cove in Sydney. It is a pretty flat curved path and not overcrowded early in the morning. I managed to break the 3mins/km barrier for just one of my 30 second efforts. Elite runners can keep this speed up for over 10km...
